Hi lads had a look up Lynemouth beach last night with a couple of pals on the hunt for cod. A nice sea was running and even though everywhere's been quiet lately, things did look great for a fish or two.

Three hours in and not a touch for any of us. Then pal Gary had a good slack line bite, but whatever it was had dropped the bait and was gone for good, chance gone.

Up until then I'd been staring at my rod for three or four hours and the rythmic bouncing of the tip was making me nod off, when bang it was my turn, slack line ...20 yards retrieved.....fish on! I soon woke up!

Result, my second best coddy this winter, at 5lb 6 ounces.

We fished on for another hour or two but that was it, not another sniff for any of us. Maybe a sign of better things to come though, I hope so.

I also had a quick session on South Shields big beach the evening before the trip up to Lynemouth which turned out okay to.

A gentle surf was running of a foot or so in height making it nice to fish with the lighter gear. Just before high tide there was a flurry of bites resulting in four flounders and a a few small coalfish.

Good fun on my bass rod.

After a month without going fishing, it's sure great to get out again.

Tightlines, Dave.

Well done mate, hopefully now that it's mildening (is that even a word?!?) up we might start seeing one or two more. All we need now is a raging northerly hoolie to break up that shoal of offshore feed & we might be back in business!

Gary :)

well done and a good fish too i aint been out since its died off but going to wait now until january before i head back out gotta do summit cracking up sat in doors all the time

Well done Dave, nice fish, hopefully just the start of them coming back inshore. :) Pity about Gary not connecting. :)

Well done!

Well done!

One is enough at the moment! A good size as well! If they come back, I think we will see some cracking fish caught after all this feeding!
