If you are just staring fishing Whitley Bay would not be the spot i would fish, it is hard going, lose alot fo gear and not the safest.

I would try a pier or jetty in the river first, a lob out will clear most rocks in the river but best fish on smaller tides. It is not always easy with no tansport but worth a walk along a mark such as the pier and watch what people or doing, spots and baits and some well most will be happy to chat about fishing.

the first time i went frasers was about 4 years ago and there a nice bunch of lads canny they will correct you i they think you do something wrong and they provide you with a good stack of bait all in all great lads just ask them what you think you have had good results from fishing at whitley bay i mean a nice 2 lbs bass and at cresswell a 12 lbs bass which your uncle released because he thought it was too small to keep lol
