Frasers Comp - Any News ???

Anybody dried out enough yet to post results of todays comp? I turned up for the weigh in - what a monsoon...

I had a great day seven ling to 8lb, one cod of 7lb, and fifteen mackerel and i didn't even fish.

Will post the full result as soon as Sam sends it, or Sam might post it, the little drop of rain sort of prevented the info being copied.

Thanks to the skippers mammoth efforts of battling fatigue and jet lag we bagged a box full as well some of the table prizes...wait with interest for the final scores on the doors as Steve and I legged it as soon we had our quarry

Frasers open boat comp. Results

Managed to dry the results out !!! They got all 'soggy' in the downpour that we had.
There were 97 competitors. 79 in boats over 20 ft and the other 18 in boats under 20 ft. A total of 43 competitors weighed in a total of 318 lb. There was only one kayak entered and this was manned by Tim Anslow, who took a codling of 2 lb 1 oz. Ken McDonald weighed in a Tub Gurnard of 2 lb 9 oz, taken in the under 20 ft class from the "Jo-Lindy-Lou".
The winner of the under 20 ft section was Gareth Thomas in the "Dani K" from Denton Burn with a pollack of 7 lb 10 oz. Gareth won this section last year too. Second was Phil Rippon on the "Fortuna" with a ling of 7 lb 6 oz. Third was Tony Gray on the "Slinky Kate" with a ling of 7 lb 3 oz. Next - on the same boat - was Cliff Garside with a cod of 7 lb 1 oz. Norman White was on the "Slinky Kate" and took a ling of 6 lb 13 ozs. On the same boat, Steve Moore had a ling of 6 lb 4 oz.
On the over 20 ft section Lee Gilbertson of Gateshead - fishing from the "Sarah JFK" won the match with a ling of 12 lb. Next - with a ling of 10 lb 4 oz - was N. Seaman on the "White Diamond". Next was Joe Winthorpe Jnr. with a ling of 9 lb 12 oz from the "Sarah JFK". Stan Fee had a cod of 9 lb 11 oz from the "White Diamond".
Everyone who weighed in received a prize - even including myself (with a cod of 2 lb 9 oz).
Brian (owner of Frasers Angling, Coatsworth Road, Gateshead) has donated £200 to the R.N.L.I.
From myself - I would like to thank everyone for their support in fishing this competition. Without you, it obviously wouldn't go ahead.
Don't forget lads ... the Ian Woods Competition takes place on Sunday 2nd August. Times, venues etc are all as the Frasers Comp. Hope to see you there.

Well done to the people that fished it, perfect conditions am for it.

Well done to all who took their time to organise such a great comp.
Brian ,Sam ,Alan ...and also great to see Mike again .

A good turnout ,great conditions but where did the macky go again ,I think they khew that the comp. was on ,still Mr.Charlton got a canny bag of fish in the end :D

Alan missed out, could of had another one, Bert left his 8lb cod in a bag next to a plant pot and forgot to take it, when Kyle ran back for it, it had vanished. :o:D

you running a fishshop or sommit alan ya must be standing at the dock side waiting for all the catches coming in

just me and the dog have got very healthy appetities for fish, and my son and his family, my daughter and her family, and those that have done me a favour, give them a fillett each, is that being overly generous, no chance of anybody getting the mackerel, just to let you know I like mackerel.

It was great to see a lot of the lads fishing again, but can I take this opportunity to point out that I am in no way connected with the organisation of this competition. I just happened to be there and as things got a bit busy at the weigh-in, I lent a hand.
Congratulations to all the lads who did weigh in and congratulationds to Sam Harris for once again organising a great competiition.
Next year I will be fishing.
