I'm prepared to take some flack for this but why are scabbing British yachties being held up as heroes for breaking a legitimate (IMO) french blockade designed to put pressure on their government to do something about the crippling rises in fuel prices. So what - a few extra days away from the desk in a country they chose to visit and take advantage of. I hope the French fisherman have marked their cards and continue to pelt these blacklegs with shoite every time they dare to slip back for some fine wine and wonderful food. Selfish ****s :mad:
 
Just been listening to 5 live and it was on the news, one boat, didnt know if it was a yachtie or not, motored up to the rope that had been placed across the harbour and sat waiting for the blockade to be lifted, only to be rammed by a French boat and then set about with a water hose! I think the French are right in protesting but wrong for involving other nations. I think we should do the same and put pressure on our government be it either fuel strike or any other way!
 
Unless it's life or death - late for work or the missus whinging doesn't count - we should be supporting our brothers and sisters just over the channel. Of course there's obstacles across the harbour, it's a blockade. It's about time we grew some stotts and took a lead from the French trade unions.
 
always had a sneaky admiration for the french and there take no **** attitudes. we could learn a lot IMHO

instead we tend to look down our noses at them and then whinge when they get what they want

they get what they want because they are prepared to fight for it, rather than the brits who tend to "not like to make a fuss'
 
Here, here! We did it a few years ago so why not do it again? Heard a load of twaddle from Gordon Brown the other day about him understanding the problem and going in the right direction. What a load of bull! Cut the stupid amount of tax we pay on fuel and thats heading in the right direction!
 
We seem to have given up in this country with regard to fighting for our rights - outside of waiting for the crumbs the parliamentarians (wtf?) will throw us to keep themselves in work. Anyone on a demo is a rabble rouser, striking workers are described as unpatriotic and ignorant of the wider issues, "whistleblowers" are sacked for breaking contractual agreements. It's time to stand up, grab a beer, march out of the front door and start barking at the moon - REVOLUTION :o

on the fuel thing, we nearly got somewhere a few years ago with the fuel blockades, but gave up too soon IMHO, I have been wondering why it hasn't started up again with fuel getting on towards double the price it was back then
 
The price of fuel is soaring on a daily basis, its going up at a staggering rate, people said that once it broke the £1 barrier then it would just keep going and they were right. The knock on effect is felt right through the economy. Our lass commented on the fact that in the future fish and chips will cost £6 due to the cost of fuel for the trawlers and then transport costs. I work in the motor trade and i for one will see an effect, i hope it will not effect my job security but something has to be done because it is becoming ridiculous

Already broke the fiver barrier mate, £5.00 for cod and chips and £5.05 for haddock and chips down at the beach at Blyth. Got family up from S/Wales visiting, she couldn't believe the price, still under £4 where they live.
