Friday St Mary’s and Tynemouth

I fished the Bibles at StMary for a couple of hours up to high water. A little bit of movement and daylight weren’t ideal conditions and the fish proved that one. Peeler crab baits on two rods came back untouched. Fruitless but not a waste of time.

Tynemouth beach was better that evening. It was stuffed with undersized whiting and puddlers which came in a fish every cast. There may have been bigger ones around if the small stuff held off long enough for them to get to the bait.
We started at the south end and moved cast by cast up towards a hole developing at Stony skeer; when that dried too much and we headed south again.
Crab, lug, rag and mackerel all took fish with the worm being slightly ahead of the other baits. We left with the feeling that we need a good easterly to stir the sea and bring in some better fish.

You must of gone through some bait Kev1n. Should be a sea on on Wednesday with the bottom of the stairs a good starting point after high water.
Is that you finished with the boat for this year, or do you venture out on a nice winter's day.

i can only agree with you . we need a big sea to get the fish feeding and the sooner the better. there's plenty of reports of the odd decent fish around the region so a good sea might just spark some good sport. on a lighter note remind me on not to leave a peeler in my pocket. the car smells awful.

Arthur, I’ve not given up on the boat fishing yet; if we get some calm spells during the winter I’ll chance a session or two. If only to keep the batteries charged and run the engine.

remind me on not to leave a peeler in my pocket. the car smells awful.

Who said it was you that left the peeler in your pocket :)
