which is best and worth freezing for the winter. crab, black lug, normal lug, rag worm, small whiting or sand eels.does it matter will they all catch fish or will some baits perish in the freezer.advise please lads as im freezing my left over bait.but dont know which to freeze. i mainly fish at south shields. cheers:yltype:

i would get as many crab you can frozen for the winter and there is really no point freezing blow lug and rag worm when you can get them fresh for tackle shops and sandeels dont think they tend to work round here bit then again i have never fished with them.

curtis :D

Ive done quite well for crab this year, and should have more than enough frozen down now to keep me happy through the winter months.

The same goes for sandeel to, the bigger ones anyways, got plenty frozen for winter.

A wouldnt bother keeping small whiting and freezing them down though mate, unless your just using them for crab bait :(, though a wouldnt keep em anyway...

Get yaself stocked up with what you think you will need. :)

It's actually illegal to keep small whiting anyway, even for pot baits as they've got a minimum size limit. Razor, crab, runnydown, muscle and mackerel should be all you need in your freezer mate

spare bait

spare bait

if any body has any spare lug razor mussel etc going and needs a magged slosh 20 plus some cash please pm me havent being able 2 get my own this year beng off coulor cheers

crabs not the be all and end all for winter but it has got its place and does produce plenty of fish. i get good results with lug, frozen blacks, mussels and squid heads.

just tie it all on in a big ball, tip off with the squid head though, i dont bother pushing bait all the way up your hooklength and launch it in the drink, sorted.
