i bought this off EBAY a few weeks back and its a canny piece of kit, no mess at all, ideal if your filler is on the opposite side to the pontoon finger..
Very handy, but the first thing that crossed my mind was that the possibility of a spark was very likely, and with the combination of fuel especially petrol it could be lethal. just my opinion...take care with it.
Same thing crossed my mind Tommy , ok for diesel , but I wouldn't want to be using crocodile clips and a battery next to an open petrol can , I seen one similar on offer at the boat show which syphoned ,no power just a piece of tube with a shaker thing in the middle (my technical description ) , looked ok but I think I'll stick to cans and a funnel till I move to Royal Quays where you can just pull alongside and say "fill her up"
Maybe i should have said i would'nt use it with petrol , i'm using the battery until i extend the lead, to plug into the cig lighter socket.
I've tried various syphon type tubes, but when you are on your own trying to balance a 25ltr drum on the handrail and work a syphon tube it can turn messy .
