Fun at Cresswell 13th May 2018

With a nice medium tide, no wind and a flat calm sea, today was looking good when I set out from Amble at midday.

I'd heard there were a fair few fish off Cresswell so headed down that way, and sure enough, lots and lots of fish, mostly in the 1-3lb bracket. Everything worked - shads, jelly eels, frozen prawns, even a few ragworm. I kept 5 and the rest all went back.

The water was really clear, and the drift was between 0.4 and 0.8 knots, so easy to feel every little knock.

A few other boats were working the area too, and back at the marina one of the lads said they landed a 5lb Pollack from Cresswell.

Interestingly, about a mile further out, there were several groups of gannets diving, which suggests there may be mackerel about.

Certainly was a cracking day, made nicer because it was warm and sunny and I wasn't wrapped up in the usual wet weather gear.

Great report and pictures m8, you did better than us two weeks ago, but the signs are good, and with the gannet's diving we may have some free bait soon.Well done.

Thanks for the report. Great to hear there's fish about.

I'm out on Sunday so I'll be sure to post a report too.
