Grillers in the mist, well here they are , my crew at the start of the day (somewhere in the mist)

so the mist had certainly come in today, we carefully crossed the river out of royal quays over to the south shields ferry landing keeping a good eye out for traffic, then crawled along the south bank of river staying in sight where possible of the edge (didn`t even attempy a photograph it would have been a white out).
Got past the groyn then headed for the south pier with all eyes trained on the blank misty view in front. spent the next 10 minutes almost crawling along the pier wall to the end. Still no sight of north pier from south pier. So a quick GPS mark and "Go for it" we crossed over. Luckily I know the terrain fairly well so I then plotted a course which would pass over bellhues rocks on the way to st Marys can wreck (about a mile off st marys) well out of the shipping lanes.
Got there safe and sound (surrounded by mist, we could have been anywhere only the GPS knew the truth).
Dropped over with traditional daylights and within minutes were landing a small ling (which decided to bite me as I removed the hook resulting in a rather sore finger for the rest of the day).
5 minutes later landed the first of our codling for the day
congrats Bruce on his first trip out

got a call from bert on shady so decided to join him further in closer to the yellow can. What a good call that was (thanks bert) spent the rest of the morning pulling in codling, coley, whiting and pouting.
all in all kept about 20 codling between the three of us (freezers topped up at last) and must have put back another 30, best was only about 4.5 lbs but all the usual excellent quality St Marys fish.
A coley for bruce

well it seems the season has really started now .............. roll on next weekend.

Great report Norman, Thanks (yet again) for the beers they went down a treat! ;)

Canny mornings fishing, I think we kept about 20 codlings between the three of us. I'm not a great lover of "pirking" but it certainly did the trick early morning.
