gate opening times s/shields pier

I fancy trying my luck on south shields pier at the weekend, thinking of going down about 5am ish.
Anybody know what time the gates open???
If they are closed is it easy to climb around???

hi mate the gates are usually opend at 7am. and closed at 9pm. unless the seas away or its foggy. hope this helps mate.

the sign on the pier says it opens at 7:30 and shuts at 9, its easy enough to climb round if you need to

alright mate the lads are right bowt the open/closing times
and to climb round the water never comes up far enough to the gate anyway unless the sea is really heavy its only a couple of foot drop on to big rocks and the same to get back on
