have'nt wrote for a while but still read 'Just to say get well soon to the lad i've just read about in the online sunderland echo.A bad fall at any age but when your 60 it will cause more damage (hopefully not) With winter coming up lets all be carefull as i'm sure we don't want to be headlines in the papers for the wrong reasons .
 
i too would wish the fella who fell on the pier well ,but personally if the pier has the gates shut,they are shut for a reason......i too love my fishing but would never put my life in danger just to catch a fish or two,at the end of the day is it worth putting your LIFE at risk?? get well soon any way mate RANT OVER!!!:rolleyes:

No, there are no gates. There is only a fence. It is permenantly fenced off because it is UNSAFE.
Rathouse corner is the only place you are allowed to fish. The pier/jetty is and always has been out of bounds.
Hope the guy gets better, but he should have had more sense at his age and showed a better example to the younguns.

aye they want to get the main pier open so folk dont have to go to more arkward areas, all the bairns 6 weeks holiday when it shud be open,[makeral season ect,]but piers been shut most of it ,i know it needs to be safe but they take to long ,i think its disgusting,its been said before like,:mad:
