i have been looking in the bookstores for a dedicated sea fishing book, but so far have only come across carp fly and general fishing eg everything , can anyone suggest a good book covering fish breeds /feeding habits, rigs, set ups, best weather conditions for catching ,hints and tips etc , i knew i had a book at me mams house but when i got it it was slightly out of date (1979 :o bloody hell who fast forwarded me life ) ) many thanks davey

To be honest mate - some of the older books are still valid...I've got an Observers Book of Sea Fishing circa 1980ish and although the rods/reels etc are antique (Scarborough Reels ffs :o LOL ;)...soz Stores...you still outfished EVERYONE at the NvS :D) the information about feeding habits of fish and rigs designs are still relevant.

Just update some of the materials and it's exactly the same as "modern" fishing...you only have to look at back dated Sea Anglers to realise that although materials have been updated the basic premise and skills are exactly the same as years ago...

try your local library mate, they stock a canny few books on sea fishing, every now and again when i am bored i go to my local library and get a couple out, make fascinating reading

you can not beat either walking about when people are fishing or joining a club mate, rigs etc just buy the sea angler or any other angling mag:)

thank's everyone:) i will have a look for that fox book ,& i am buying sea angler mag now , don't know about joining a club i like the idea just seems a bit intimidating though , as for old gear my book has a picture of a bloke called roy cook who it says can cast an 11 oz sinker & 3 cod baits 120 yards with his handline and casting pole !!! & old spark plugs make ideal weights

yeh i can see what you mean even after 2 issues , thought i might subscribe though so i get the free ron thomson spinning rod n reel as advertised everywhere for 30 quid just as a 2nd rod. it seems a good deal a rod / reel and all the mags for 40 quid
