Good digging spots?

OI OI,
hello nelson im sure many people around the north east know of many places to dig my friend but no one is going to tell you,

:yltype::yltype::yltype:

just get ya self to just about any beach at low water and start digging mate ive got a cracking little spot but like people say i aint gonna tell you (got about 80 lug in an hour today) keep trying diff spots and try beaches close to rocks

Ill agree with Keith the middens is a decent shot on a big tide, but last time i went there was some guys checking all the tyres and giving us some right black looks when we were digging.
We got mainly ragworm and black Looks :p

Best bet is just to have a look around a few places at low tide, keep in mind that most harbours either have complete bans on digging on the foreshore or tend to frown on it. If you're digging anywhere fill in behind you, nothing more likely to have someone kick off than if they fall into a hole one of us has kindly left for them. Most people won't openly tell you the decent places to dig because as soon as the word starts to spread then the area's get dug out by hoards of people turning up and then you're back to hunting around to find a new spot.

Allright Nelson,
Can't tell you the secret ones but here's a few for starters.

Whitburn beach in front of Latimers fish shop or the old garage on a big tide for LUG.
Sandpoint in the Wear for Rag.

Holy Island but be prepared to walk-follow the river to the left also the back of the island on a big tide close to the rock skiers oops thats a secret. Also Rag beds up there but you will never find them.

Hendon prom for runnies on a very big tide.

Blyth estuary for good rag although been a long time since i have been there.

I Recently got one, well i say recently it was eighteen month ago it took two of us to dig it out unfortunately it escaped and wrapped itself around a hill in LAMBTON,Washington.

A tall story!!

Is the whole beach out of bounds now,i know the left was always frowned upon but the middle and right was always ok,plus theres some ok beds amongst the rocks.

Cod007 you can dig Boulmer as long as you dig South of the rocks which are CLEARLY marked on the maps dotted around the village green. Your mate was probably escorted off there byhe police if he was digging outside of those areas and refused to move. I know this coz I have spoken to the police on many occasions over the Plums from South of the Tyne who insist on 'Their right to dig where they please'. It is also illegal to dig their for anything other than for your self so if you have a bucketful, they may believeyou're digging for profit and again escort you off.
Many of the fisherfolk have been threatened on numerous occasions to have their boats holed and with being impaled by forks.

There seem to be a lot of folk digging both tides virtually all week....I just hope none of them are claiming benmefits and then selling their worms on as it won't be the coppers they have to worry about.
So stick to the rules and you're fine but just remember there are only a finite amount of worms there and if every man and his dog descend and as I have noticed on a couple of occasions last year, witnessed them digging out large square area instead of trenches, then come January, there won't be many of a decent size left.
