Good Light Ground Summer Rod

Advice on a lighter rod for summer pier fishing as well as fishing the tyne. Largely clean ground, abu 6500 12 to 15 pound/leader combo: targeting small codling in the tyne and plaice from the beaches/piers. Nice lightweight sport rod - have a Kompressor SS but this is strictly really for heavy ground/cod fishing. Also have a nice long ezee sport but has gone maybe a tad soft and has a 30mm butt - looking for a good slim line option.

Any of the century range suitable? tip tornado match?

AFAW Surf rod - totally awesome!

If you want a Century, how about a TT lite or ultralite, or even the supermatch LD which looks a very nice rod.

G,you cannot get an afaw surf rod for love nor money !!!!!!!!!!

Are they really that hard to get hold of? I know Jules has got his rods in a few shops up here - I'd have thought they could get one to order. Unless of course he's been concentrating on the new Mk2 range....was a similar story with the first tourney matches; couldn't get one for ages after the first run, but I managed to nab one of the first of the next batch after collaring him in the tackle shop!

I'm afraid I won't be parting with mine, had it for about 4 years now & love it to bits!

I use Century Tip Tornado Lite for light beach work and a TT Match on the pier great rods for showing even the smallest bite ...

Hi Gary you have source I can contact for a afaw?

Have a word with Simon at Lewis Tackle in Whitley Bay (01912526017) - that's where I've got my AFAWs from. I ran into Jules there when he was brining round his Clubman range, & pestered him to send up a tournament match for me! I'm sure Simon could contact him & get the score on what's currently available. With the new mk2 rods having just come out, I'm not sure what's still available from the mk1 range.

Gary :)
