The most worrying thing about carbon is it's escalating price and the effect on our pockets when we have to buy new gear ............................... but some lads have worked out a way of making rods out of carrots. Get in resent:

It takes about 10 kilos of carrots per rod - expected price is going to be the low end of expensive £300 -£400 as telt in Trout and Salmon. It would be cheaper just to buy about 40 of them and sellotape them together (about £3:00) You could remove the tape and put the carrots in a bag if you were flying somewhere (in a boat with wings obviously due to carbon footprints and gases and that) I think you can only have carrot rods for flyfishing at the moment. Sea Angling would probably best use the parsnip or some brussel sprout type material for the rock edges.

Ian, are these rods 9, 14 or 18 carrot mate.
