Good night at the twin steps (Hartlepool)

Fished the twin steps last night from 6 until 10 and had some really good sport
Started fishing on the beach and only had one bite, but as soon as the tide covered the gully about 20m out, then I was into the bass. I had 3 fish but was unable to beach them as they all came off when I got them to the sand bar before the gully, but the last one was greedy and took it right down.
All 4 fish gave me a good fight and I was so chuffed to actually get one about 2lb in the bag. I used rag all night.
I did expect the sea to come right up to the sea wall but it must have been a small tide as it was about 5m short. Anyway good fun was had by all !!

Griff thats the secret with Bass-you need to find the gulleys because this is where the fish patrol for food. I have a spot in mind not far from where you were fishing.

Mick.

thanks for your response Mick, i thought there would have been more down as i was told when buying my bait, that a 7lb bass had been caught the other night. Never mind though, thats more fish for us:red:

That is until the netters sweep the beach after reading your report!!

Why have catch reports if you can't report ?

Why have catch reports if you can't report ?

Why have a forum for catch reporting if it is frowned upon if you report a catch..... We might as well shut this section down:(

That is not what I'm saying. By all means report what you have caught, just be vague with your location - especially when catching high value fish such as bass. I seem to recall someone posting a location of bass last year and sure enough the whole beach was netted. This was well documented as the culprits were actually caught by the authorities. However not all are as clumsy and get away with wiping shoals of bass out. You'll understand first hand if that area has been netted next time you go down.

Well done on the bass, and please don't take this as the start to a fight. I'm merely pointing out the downfalls of posting exact locations. Coddy has the right idea - holderness coast!! Very vague.

Regards

Sean

agree totally with bass reports, and a know prob the 99.9% of lads on here are responsible anlglers, but on some of the forums if you look how many guests are viewing etc

its not just netters either, norm fisherman can ruin areas and have witnessed and argued etc with so called fisherman keeping undersized bass etc and now for this reason i never post any bass reports or locations i have caught any

its sad but thats what some peoples mentalitys have caused:(
