Nice one mate. Good Catch that.

Was thinking of popping along at tea time with kids and small spinning rod but guessing it'll be mad with all the sun we've had today.

Well done on returning it - it would have been a bar of silver I guess and a lovely eating size.

Unusual catch that, at least unusual on daylites anyways.

At least its still swimmin', that'll be one lucky salmon that sneaked its way through the salmon nets.:)

yeah defo m8, i never foul hooked or nothing eaither, it swollowed the daylight right down and gave a lethal fight, when i saw it coming through the water it looked amazing, i thought it was a tuna haha. well thats my biggest catch this year so far anyway and defenitly the best.

welldone mate probs more likley to be a sea trout:)
also welldone for returning it:D

bet u didnt know what had hit u!:o:D

4lb is small for a Salmon mate,probably a Seatrout.
The easiest way to tell the difference is the tail, the Seatrout,s is straight and the Salmon is curved. Also, you do need a license to keep them up to 6 mile out to sea.
Well done any way.....

old bloke in his 70's hooked a salmon on a lure off the steetly h,pool took him almost 20 mins to get it in, it was a 7 and a 1/2 pounder, wonderful fish, another bloke said the way you tell the difference between a salmon and a sea trout is if you hold it by the tail one will slip through your hand and one won't, but i can't remember wich is wich, but well done mate great catch.

I mate there one of the best fighting fish. Would love to catch one when a go fly fishing for mackerel.

Salmon are very teratorial, which is why it probably whacked your daylites and you ended having fun playing it in.

More to the point, well done for catching it!:D

aye paul, the sea trout will slip through your grip, but the salmon having more flesh above the tail wont, and has more scales between the lateral line and the adipose fin. :)
Glad you enjoyed the sport Kenny, and a big well done on the release. hope it makes it up river and back to sea
