You can pick up the garmin 180 mono dirt cheap ( About £420 I think ) , I had one on my last boat -great jobs. Don\'t think none of the members have got Standard Horizon , they are new to the british market I believe .

Depending on what model your souder is , you can download some manuals from makers websites .

I have a Standard Horizon cp150. Just got the thing in December and only been to sea with it once. They take the cheaper Cmap NT+ cards so you can buy a card for Montrose to Briddlington Bay for £80 .

I got a good deal from MES ltd, for the unit and the card.
They use a WAAS reciever so they are pretty acurate as well. They also come with a three year warranty. Check out the US web sites you will find Standard Horizon are as common as Garmin etc.

As for performance it would be unfair for me to comment after one trip. The only thing I noticed was it started to delete my track log , deleting forwards from my launch point the further I travelled, probably a storage function needs set up somewhere.

If you want to read up on them email me your address and I will send you a photo copy of the owners manual.

i have a 150 fitted as a back up unit to my cetrek 345,not a bad little unit for the price, and a good warranty as well,my only niggle is the screen is a bit small, but there again i am getting old

How much track log does your one store. Reading the instructions it states the CP150 will store up to 1000 fix points in the memory, stored in either distance or time. The units default was to store a fix every 1 second ,meaning it will delete the track after 15 mins or so ?
I had a Garmin before this and it seemed to store the track log until I deleted it. Any ideas.. :casstet:

Niel, you can change the units settings to store track history for as long as you want,i only use mine as a back up unit,my main plotter is a cetrek 345 which has a huge screen, the only problem with that is i need to use my furuno gps to give it its position info

Cheers Bob.

Must have another look at it. It was only set for 1000 recorded points and the field is fixed. Might just email them and find out how you change that...

Neil.
