Well guys and gals I'll be hitting the road this Sunday to take part in my first (only?) Great North Run event...13.1 miles of blood sweat and tears :o

I have trained, but possibly not as well as I could have in the last few months but nevertheless I WILL be taking part and WILL be crossing that there finishing line on South Shields Sea Front (as long as I beat that 90 year who runs every year I'll be happy :D)

Anyone who knows me and wishes to sponsor me please feel free to chuck some money my way - I'll be running for Help For Heroes and for the RNLI - with the RNLI split going to the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (who lost one of their members the other week tragically)

I will be wearing a Red Polo Shirt with my Forum name on the back so keep an eye out for a fat baldy knacker whose face will match his T-Shirt in terms of colour

Like I say if anybody wishes to sponsor me drop me a PM and we'll sort something out

Cheers

Tony

Good luck on the race mate. My Daughter in her band The Newcastle Allstars are playing at the finish line, The steel drum Music lightens everyones spirits. I hope you enjoy it mate.:)

Good luck Tony,

Easiest way for people to sponser you is to open a"Just Giving" account then people can donate on line saving you the trouble of collecting the money.

JustGiving - the easiest way to fundraise and donate to charity onlinehttp://www.justgiving.com/

Enjoy your day.

Good Luck Tony,

I have done it a few times and the key word is vaseline!!!!! And lots of it everywhere! I did it dressed as batman 2 years ago and never again! The chaffing was unbeliveable and I couldn't see for the sweat dripping in my eyes from my cape!
Great causes as well. You see some people running for some less desirable causes so to speak allthough I am sure they are valid in their eyes! The last mile along the sea front seems like it will never end but coming over the line is some feeling! Good Luck again,

Graham.

Nearly Time now Tone, good luck mate ..... maybe give yourself some added fitness if you wear the divers belt ... (before we chop it up for sinkers) :)

All the best mate, I`m sure the willpower will get you through to the finish line. (not that I`m implying the strict regime of fitness training you've been doing every night recently wont get you there) :)

Cheers Norman - and cheers to those who've sent me PMs with well wishes...much appreciated - thanks :)

...ah whey it'll be good craic if nowt else...MP3 Player on A-Z by track so i'll be jogging ove the Tyne Bridge to Abracadbra by Steve Miller (might just tweak so it's Local Hero :D)

rest assured there'll be pics of the day (and even a video:D) - I'm not afraid of self publicity ;):D

lets hope you`ve not reached "Zulu the theme music" by the time you get to the finish line :) ...... looks a nice day for it anyway, sunshine but not too hot

It looks a cracking day for it .

I hope he paces himself to the themetune from Steptoe and son.

LOL Steve...I'd actually started the race to Californication by the Chilli Peppers but because I'd set the MP3 to random I approached the Tyne Bridge lstening to Lonely This Christmas by Mudd :o:D

3 hours 17 minutes and 57 Seconds (as well as 39 Launce and 13 Mackerel)...only about 2 hours 19 minutes behind the Male winner :red::D

I can only improve tho eh?

Cheers for the words of support folks - I might do it again who knows (I'll wait until the body recovers :D)

Well done Tony ,I take my hat off to you .

Having watched the TV coverage today I fancy making it a taget for myself ,mind you the last time I did it was in 1984 :D:D ,and I had a whole neck then .

Once again well done on raising cash for such worthy causes.

Well my plan was to "beat that 90 year old"...turns out he's 88 and I was talking about Jarrow Jim :red:

I came 36484th...Jarrow Jim came 37309th (mucho respecto to the bloke)
