over the years I have bought many items of outdoor gear from Great Outdoors and had no problem. In august this year after getting a soaking when packing the caravn away my wife and i decided it was time to get a couple of new waterproof jackets. So off we went to Great Outdoors where the assistant manager recommended two Berghaus jackets. The first time I wore the jacket in heavy rain, when I got back I was soaked all down the front. naturally i took it back, they said they would send it off to Berghaus for testing, but in all probability the water got down the front of the jacket because of the amount of rain. You could understand a little bit round the neck, but right down the front. In the meantime I contacted Consumer Direct, they told me if the jacket was faulty they should either replace it or give a refund, if not faulty then because they recommeneded a jacket and it did not fulfil the purpose it was intended for then they should give a refund. After waiting for over a week with no contact i went there this morning, I was given the jacket back with a letter from Berghaus stating the jacket was 100% waterproof, and that now they didn't know how the water got in and I wasn't getting a refund. Dosn't cast a very good light on Berghaus, there products being mis sold or on the customer service of Great Outdoors. So be warned, I won't be back there, unless they decided to change their minds. Obvioulsy I will not let the matter rest.
