Greys G series boat rods

Ive got the 6-12lb and the I think 30-50lb without going in the shed and having a look. got them both for £20 a piece at the hardy store. they were both ex sales demos. used them last season seem good quality and a nice action. had the tip ring break on the heavier rod but I did bend it by mistake and the welding came away. Had no bother getting a replacement free from hardys though, had to stick it on myself which was'nt a problem.

The 6-12lb was ideal to leave a spinner or a set of feathers hanging over the back with 2oz weight searching for pollock and the macky. the 30-50lb has what I need enough grunt to pull out of a snag if needed and light enough for a bit sport. did want the one inbetween think it was 20-30lb but thinking now might have been a bit springy having used the heavier one.

Happy with what I got especialy for the price......

Might be worth a phone call to hardys to see what they have on specail

Finally got round to having a look at this rod for th RRP it seem's an OK rod for the money. BUT I can't say I was impressed on how the butt section fits to the tip section I fear under pressure this will break,of course this is my personal opinion, and by know means am I an expert. So this rod will stay in the rack in the shop and I shall look elsewhere.

Our little un has just bought himself one because we liked the action of the rod compared to others. The joint looks a like it could be a weakspot but for the lower line class should be OK. And, as a back-up the rod comes with a lifetime warranty.

Even with the BIG persuader (lifetime warranty) that Greys use to make you part with your cash. I'm not convinced that its worth it in this case. if the rod in question is £49.99 rrp and your going to get them abit cheaper. If the rod needs replaced and Greys charge you the £25.00 handling fee, some I feel like myself will ask themselves is it worth it? OK you part with more cash the £25.00 handling fee and recieve a replacement rod at half price. But which may have the exact same fault as the first. This maybe worth the effort and the parting of your cash. if your talking about the high end of the market rods but for the lower end?? Thats a question for the individual to ask him/her self.

Richy, If I can beat my P.B. I shall be a happy chappy:D:D, I shall just have to try harder this season to acheive it ;).

I will get my mam to give you some tips, she had 4 doubles last year pmsl :)

Nar am sure this year will be the year, if not a cod then at least a ling.

Theres a point rich, my crew have now all managed their doubles ....
What to go for next eh? I think 15lb is the realistic target set for this season (ok Tone, Steve :) )

Kev1n, when you expecting your boat, look forward to meeting up.

Can we just start off in 1lb increments?...I'd be happy with an 11lb Cod to begin with :D...wouldn't mind a Ling doubler as well...9.5lb being the best so far....

Until the mackerel come in i will be happy with a few 2-3lbers then anything goes.

If just half them 7-8lb ling made it one more year they should be knocking on double figures this year.

Cant wait and a few new people to meet out at sea.

Hi Norman, the boat’s due up here any time now. I’m just waiting for the broker to sort out transport which was offered at half the cost of most carriers because the driver was planning on taking a boat back south with him. I’m starting to get impatient now though and it's not helped that I've just sold my little Seahog.

I'll look out for you when it arrives.
