I haven't, was going for the Ugly Stik 20-30lb Braid boat rod rod put took a side step and ended up with a Fladen Maxximus 20-40lb. I do however have a Shakespeare Ugly Stik Charter 15lb as with the Fladen I've just started to use so early days to give judgement on either rod

Cheers for that matey. I've been using a Masterstik and although it's like a pool cue!! I like it. Just been advised to get something with a softer tip for shadding...

For years I've been using a pair of Penn Med Tuna Stand Up rods a 25-40lb class and a 20-25lb class there both like pool cue's as you say. When I seen how thin the Ugly Stik was I thought thats not going to last the day Then I got the Fladen Maxximus solid carbon if I didn't know any better I would of sworn it was a coarse rod its that thin.

Some of them ie looked at I wouldn't like to get stuck into a decent fish with!! As they look so thin.... Think I'm gonna have to have a good look around b4 diving in.

it is daunting but dont be put off by the thin appearance of some rods. Monday gone Richy using a 6' 6" Fladen Maxximus 20-40lb pulled in a 14lb Cod with no problem see photo in "watching the weather fingers crossed " thread in boat section, those Fladens do half bend

They are Great rods mate, I use the 30lb. class for wrecking and the 12lb. class for Tope fishing the west coast of Scotland, been using them for about 6 years now with no probs. cracking rods.

Here's a clip of me landing a 40lb. Tope on the 12lb class. Barza's personal best 40lb.tope - YouTube

Iv'e just recently bought a 6lb class too that i'm going to use for tope-ing in a few weeks when i'm over there. :)

Quality m8. Now that's fishing!!!
Great Photo at the end aswell!!
Wouldn't fancy 20 of them in 1 session! Looks back breaking!!!!

Very good sturdy rods but the top part of the reel seat is prone to slipping it has very small splines but when you lock up reel it's best to leave it locked on.
