After studying the weather for days and not having a trip off for a couple of weeks I decided to have a go on Wednesday afternoon. With graham away at sea I called on the services of rich.

We left amble just before low tide and headed south. I was expecting a choppy sea after looking at various websites but was a little surprised how choppy it was. We eventually got to our mark where the drift was a tadge fast at 2.5mph.

Not a sniff for the first 30 minutes and I was starting to fear the worst as the gusts seemed to be getting stronger. I decided to head closer inshore and was rewarded with 6 fish in 6 drops between the 2 of us, nothing bigger than about 2 pound. The water clarity was still really good and a few fish took an orange shad.

We fished on picking fish up at a steady rate. Rich got a double shot of 4 pounders and then a good sized fish of 9 pound which he struggled to get in with his dodgy reel!

All in all a good few hours fishing despite the conditions. Total for the boat was 28 cod and 2 scothies.

Well done Micky , I had Wednesday earmarked for a day out too but decided against it at the last minute , nice to see there ae some fish there for when we eventually do get out though :)
