Evening all,

myself and Graham B headed down to Cresswell skeers yesterday at about 10am. Late start as I was nursing a hangover from a works night out.

The met office forecast was spot on and the strong winds started just after we set off. It was a westerly wind so the sea wasn't too bad close in. Although there were a couple of times when I thought I was going to be seeing last night’s vodka/red bull.

We managed 8 codling in the first 2 hours and then the tide turned and the fish stopped biting. We tried for another 2 hours but no joy so we headed back in out of the wind.

Graham took advantage of my hung over state and caught 5 to my 3, I caught the biggest of the day at 3lb. 5 were kept for tea the other 3 were just size so we put them back.

Best bait was rag with mussel second.

First fish of the season for Growler's deck boy!

Even rusty from last season I kicked your Ar*e Micky and as for the "Skipper", He caught the most fish!.To add to what Micky said the fish were in tight pockets and required short drifts to get back over them. The water was still a bit couloured and I found baited black hokki's the best method. The drift wasn't too bad but the conditions were just a bit snotty and with the co-owner being a bit green we had an early finish! we considered dropping the pick but both couldn't be bothered to pull it back in again!

Graham.

I forgot to add I fished with my new 6-12lb class rod and what a hoot! Even the small codling had the rod bent double and they fought like mad!
