If the two lads that I saw out there on the small cobble , ever read nesa, could you post some photos of your fish? I would love to see it again and I am sure outher nesa members woulkd like to see whats out there. It was a beauty, they thought it was 40lb plus and it looked it .If they read this ,I hope it was and sorry for only having scales to 25. They caught it on daylites baited with squid,about 3 mile mark, Fish of a bloody lifetime and right next to me. Maybe next time.
 
That really is a fish of a lifetime. when i worked aboard the boat some years ago we might get 1 or 2 throughout the whole year, so they are very rare in these waters. Wouldnt mind seeing a pic of that beast.
 
Just ancedotally, it seems there are more of these reported recently.
Has anyone else noticed, or is it my imagination?
Sometimes when one species declines, others take advantage. Like there being more pipefish about now sandeels are on the decline.
I certainly wouldn't mind catching one.

been quite a few lately most down Whitby way, some on rod and line but others taken commercially
