Used mine for a few years now with mono and rarely use anything else for the heavy ground. I suspect it would be good with braid, particularly the newer models which are lighter and not quite as stiff. (Mine's one of the old ones).
Any rod will cast braid however a through action rod with a firm tip works best, also I have found kwags are the best by a long way for braid or another set of stand off eyes.
