Started at Hauxley yesterday as the sea had come away great, had a couple of chucks but too no avail! Couple of lads had a couple of tommies but that was it. Moved on to Ample Pier and fished the right hand side of the pier into the bay.

Used runnydown, lug, squid and mussel cocktails, really big ones like Henry does off "fishing the edge".

Anyway as the tide grew got a great knock then slack line....

After a good battle (for a cod) landed a 6 pounder, over the moon!

Couple of casts later got a smaller one, size but returned.

Ran out of bait just as the westerlies started.

Good night had by all....

Cheers lads,

Forgot to mention that on the way back to the car a couple of young lads fishing asked to see the fish.

The first lad said to me "I'll give it away for you"

To which I obviously responded "I'm ganna eat it man!"

Once again he said "I'll give it away"

Again I replied "I'm taking it home for my tea!"

At this point his mate butted in and said "I think what he's trying to say is he'll weigh it for you!"

Tickled - funny at the time!
