I used to work out of Shields many many years ago on the trawlers and we came across these many times we used Gill nets to target the Cod and once the Cod are trapped in the nets these worms attacked them and then start eating them from the inside out......not nice eh!!

Never caught one yet John. You can always tell when they have been on your gear though, I think that must be where terminal came from lol. As for the Hag fish scones no offence but dirty gits lol.

Cheers Willy....its a shame I now moved south many years ago fishings here is rubbish too many clean beaches........... I was a member of Tynemouth angling club in the early eighties but now I\'m looking at fishing up there more often now and start doing the comps again,cant beat the rock edges and the piers.

In answer to the title of your topic John - YES - more times than I can remember.........ain\'t they cute.
Used to get plagued with them on Shields pier - now it seems they\'re turning up everywhere. I\'ve had them from the beach and from the rocks. Seems to be the one species thriving at the moment......lol.
I\'ve heard that there are possibilities of using the slime as a binding agent in foodstuffs (bit like egg whites or geletene)......christ me stomach\'s churning just thinking about it.......lol

It\'s fun watching them quite litterally tying themselves in knots, though........ 
How can such a little critter produce such a VAST amount of slimey gunk in such a short time ???........lol.......ain\'t nature marvellous........just wish it would be \"marvellous\" somewhere other than on my line...lol

All I can comment on is trying to get it off your line. Not easy and much better to just unclip and throw it away.
