I didn't fancy a long session last night so just bought enough bait for a couple of hours and planned to head down to my local mark to fish over high water. As it happened I was late getting out and arrived bang on high tide just in time to fish the first of the ebb which is not the best time for this mark. Hebburn has a reputation for being poor on the ebb and sometimes it is but tonight it wasnt. First cast I caught a codling just undersized at 34.5cm so I was off to a good start. Then there was nothing for the next couple of hours and I was running out of bait and it was looking like first cast curse. Then the fish came back on. I had a few knocks and managed to land another one 34cm then on my very last cast with my last bit of bait I caught my first sized one 37cm. So not a bad session three codling in two hours, one size. It looked like if I had stayed for longer I would have had a few more as it had picked up nicely once the tide started pulling strong so it was a shame I hadn't brought enough bait for another hour. Hebburn can fish on the ebb
The fish were all caught on lugworm and two of them were tipped with mussel.
