research the wrecks and try to find some big ones, also consider age (decay), orientation and hight as well as length.

wreckfinder app is useful

book: Ron Young "ultimate shipwreck guide" helps

go to the mark on Navionics, zoom fully in, switch the sounder on and either circle until you see structure or "chessboard"

my experience is that the Navionics charts are pretty accurate

What marina are you based in? if close to me i will pop down and set your sounder up.I have the same sounder and i know what a pain it is to set up...i was ready to sell it one weekend but now it works a dream and the detail is so good i can make out the bulk heads and structure shapes.

As stated alot of the wrecks are gone now, i am always crossing wrecks off not worth fishing or two small, my list has 87 no goers on now and rising. Also as stated fish the big ones or go to a wreck that has a boat already fishing on and check your fish finder...if you cant see anything you know its your settings etc.

set you sounder on zoom any increase in bottom height could be wreckage also if it is a colour sounder look for a hard echo and hopefully fish marking, check transducer beam angle go wide till you locate it then narrow when on top take the numbers, if you just started try on slack water if you sitting on top 200ft moving platform looking for a bit wreckage you just end up chasing your tail, also handy dropping a small buoy as a reference till you get used to drift wind and tide it becomes easier with practice you can come back on a wreck reading your gear without looking out the window there are big wrecks but a lot on full scale just look like a lump on the bottom all part of the fun i had westmar scanning sonar magic piece of kit on a 38 ft boat, but fished the wrecks in a shetland sheltie, shipmate decca, and a Lowrance x16 when I started

360 sonar in action

My boat is at Royal Quays marina. I would appreciate your help if you're about this weekend. New to this site and not sure if this will be seen by everyone or just you. Will you message me your mobile number?

Hi mate, welcome to nesa, if you have a look at my website (link in my signature) and go to the wreck fishing section the guide might be of some use to you.
Good luck, may see you around royal quays sometime

Cheers
