Alright Lads And Lasses,

Cheers in advance.

Don't know the area that well, but I'm pretty sure the harbour itself fishes at high, and there's always Cullernose Point. Hope this helps

Dunstanburgh castle & cullernose point.not necessarily high water marks. But
two areas where you will find a reasonable depth of water no matter what state the tide.

I would watch your self fishing up that way when there is a big sea swally, as you can get some big surges. Also if the rocks are wet they can be lethal too, very slippy mate.

Jim.

as jim said watch what your doing more importantly watch the sea. If its really rough even at Dunstanburgh Castle on the high cliff I've been there and seen it the sea crashing into the cliffs and coming onto the top. At Cullernose the sea will roll in from the point inwards and if your not high enough your away. But if its that bad, you wouldn't be out there, would you??

aye, what the boys said but with big sea's forecast i wouldn't waste my time or bait. All my fish up there have been on either calm or very slight seas. slippy rocks jim!!, thats an understatement if i ever heard one.....been on my arse loads up there, mostly on my own so no one to laugh at me :)

I would agree with that Mark, I've never done well when there has been a sea running up there either mate. As far as people laughing if you fell, never :o :o :D If I slipped now I'd be struggling to get back up Mark.

It's a pity my favourite marks are such a walk along there or I would be up a lot more.

i would never laugh. cough cough. see when the weather inproves and when you're feeling a bit better might have an evening up there eh.

i have made the mistake of heading up craster even after being told i would be wasting my time. its nigh on imposible to fish in rough water with the sea running up there, your rod and stand get dragged over far to much, you are back and forward from the waves crasing in, slippy. if i was in the army i would say it was a logistical nightmare.
one evening i gave up on the rocks without even going on them lol. even tried the harbour but they also were no good with waves crashing over both walls.
for me, fishing deep water marks would nean a flatish sea.

That would be good Mark, it would have to be close to the harbour though as I couldn't make it to the old marks. I think the last time I fished by the castle in the summer would have been with you, if you remember it was a VERY long walk back to the car lol.

Jim.

Alright Boys',

Cheers for the info, Do you know of any marks around the cresswell area that would be fishable in a rough sea?

Cheers.

If I was you I would stick to one of your tried and trusted marks swally, it's not a great idea to go to a new mark that you know little about on a big sea, especially if you are going by yourself. You don't want to become another casualty of rough seas mate.

Jim.
