for the 14th succcessive year the pilgrimage to corrour started at 0600 on monday 9th may.
the agenda a bit of walking,a bit of trout fishing and winkling out some(lots) of pike:) those participating in this jaunt myself, mrs lingking, mrs lingkings sister and mrs lingkings brother.a family affair indeed, not as some might think a group hell bent on incest.
first stop was for the big breakfast at cafraemill hotel, excellent as always:)
second stop was at the "queens view point "cafe,a bunch of thieving scottish gypsys,no more stops there:mad: onward to rannoch station where all the gear is unpacked and carried across to the platform,in the RAIN,waiting for the train, which was on time:) a 9 minute journey takes us across rannoch moor to rainy corrour:( at this point the group divides, the two chicks:question: accomodate themselves at the syha b and b which is at the station, flush toilets and showers the order of the day here:)

mel and i walk 1 mile east to loch ossian youth hostel,no showers and an all singing all dancing eco composting green friendly toilet, shame it has to smell the way it does:)
about 5pm the two chicks arrive for the already planned and cooked meal.
SO its 6 30pm on monday, the rods are set up,still raining but the wind has come to help it along:( after two hours and an expectation of at least 8 pike with a couple in double figures the score is 1 pike at 4lbs and a jolly good soaking:( the chicks returned to their nest at the railway station, mel and i to the hostel, still wet
tuesday dawned wet and windy,we walked during the day,and went to the railway station in the evening to celebrate:question:mels 65 birthday:)
wed.still rain and wind, the chicks took the train back to rannoch station and spent a day sightseeing in the sun,mel and i fished for trout in the rain and wind, brown and rainbow, best about 2lb but given conditions not a bad day,in sporting terms:)
wed. night saw the pike not much keener on coming out to play,4 fish best 6lb,still in the rain and wind:(
thu.more of the same, rain wind chicks sightseeing in the sun mel and dunk trouting thru the day,and so naffed off we didnt go fishing for pike on thu. night:(
friday dawns bright and clear:) too bad we have to be on the 08 30 train to rannoch and home, and that my friends is my highland disaster:)

Is there anywhere round these parts where you can hire a boat and fish for pike Duncan, i've always wanted to try it, :)

i only go to the same spot every year chris,as you may have guessed its very remote.there are holiday cottages owned by the estate if you google "corrour estate" theres some info on there
