Is this a silly question?

Do Daylites/Hokkais etc come in different sizes? IE hook size etc?

If so what would be a good size to take out for a days fishing ?

any help/info appreciated

yup. I've got bought ones from size 6 up to 7/0

mackeral will take any, smaller ones any you can take launce and sand eels with em.

I tend to use the 7/0's from the boat, but the sodding mackeral still take em

from the shore, I guess 1's to 1/0's would be a happy medium

I make daylights up with weeny size 8's for catching sand eels for bait

From the boat I tend to use the 2/0 to 4/0 range as mackeral will take them as will codling in murky water especially around St. Marys .
