A very kind chap offered to show me Horden beach last night, he even give me a lift in his 4x4 right onto the beach, now that's service for you. We fished it at a couple of locations for about 6 hours, had half a dozen of so whities between us some big enough for the pan some also returned, alas no sign of them illusive codling things. Anyway all in all it was a grand night, slight sea running, a bit coloured water and virtually no wind made it really comfortable fishing and there was always that chance.......

I've had a couple of reels in the house for years never been used (Abu sports mag and 6500 mag elite) loaded them with line to give them ago, tried the first one on half magnet, cast perfect getting good distance and as smooth as anything really impressed untill I got cocky and turned the mag right off, BOOM :( really don't know what I was thinking of.

Tried the second one, again excellent to cast with really smooth and good distance on half mag, when we moved along the beach in the 4x4 as I took the rod out the jeep I didn't notice the mag had accidentally been knocked off completely, rebaited walked to the waters edge really hard cast and............BOOM:(. Never mind will have to watch that in future, that is the only fault I have with that reel the mag control is too easy to knock, can't remember which reel is which but it's the green one anyway.

A big thanks to Primo Man for a very enjoyable day.

Never fished down Horden but having a 4x4 sounds excellent. I did have a trails bike when i was a lad and me and a mate went down to a beach at Easington. Remember the sand was black with sea coal.

took a wander down there in the fourtrack couple days ago, ooo does it save the walk or the worry of leaving your car in the carpark, couple those muddy holes are deep though :)
