A bit info needed lads.

Just put my 4X4 on the road and now ready for fishing, never been down the beach at Horden this year but planning a trip very soon.

Any lads with 4X4s running this route and is "get on" still ok

There was a few 4x4's on there when I was down at the weekend H; it looks a bit sloppy but as long as you have AT or mud shoes on I'd guess you will be OK. That said the spoil shelf has been cut away by the last set of big seas so it is now a 5 foot sheer drop almost all the way along so you will either need to fish from the shelf well back form the sea or find a way down somehow...

Took girlfriends izuzu trooper down two years ago in a Comp. was like parking in quicksand, went down to the axles. Cost me thirty quid to get it towed out. But won 300 with a six pounder. Result lol

Yes a lot of 4x4s have been well stuck getting down to the beach...the big mistake they make is trying to avoid the standing water and deep pools that's been formed by vehicles travelling on a well beaten track.

But if you keep to the track and don't try to wander off to avoid the deep water you'll be fine, because the old track has been there for lots of years and the old heavy coal waggons used it and the bottom is hard well packed ground, either side is deep sticky mud.
There's two big problems with Horden that can catch you out and I've been caught.
1/ fishing the beach and it's raining heavy for some hour's when coming off the little stream can be in flood, like 6ft of fast moving water.
2/ the concrete road going down to the beach, the slightest frost and it's like a skating rink, impossible to get up but glides down nee bother. :D

Unfortunately I don't have my 4x4 now and really miss having it. You are right about the stream though Harry, last time I was down it was a good 5 foot or so, "water up past the windows" Still got through no problem but my passengers nearly had a heart attack :D
