Came home just before. High tide sea was massive loads of rollers

Last cast had a massive nock picked up the rod bang reeled in just got to edge of water big fish flaped twice came unhooked and swam off

I must have had a tidler lying on as that some how managed to stay hooked

So at least I didn't blank but by god id have loved to weighed it definitely a double figure

Needles to say it took the wind out of my sails


Baits used macky mussels frozen blacks and lug

I remember a couple year back losing a good cod at horden, wasnt a double mind...but remember thinking the same - could have grabbed it but didnt and a wave came over and vanished!

Lesson learned mind, im the fastest on the beach now when it comes to losing a fish on the cusp, ive been known to dive on pollock at the mull ha

depends where u fish mate. the blocks are ok with the odd snag, the flight can be a bit rockier. to be honest its not really a mark where its vital but u have nothing to lose if u use it ( bar the odd sinker) lol

Never lost any big ones here but I have in Norway. I always think was it a shore caught 20lber. They just bend the rod like a 5 bob spinning rod from Aldi

Horden must be due to produce a good fish, has been poor this year despite a steady stamp of cod past few weeks nothing big.

That said I am going to waste a few hours tomorrow night down horden and hope for that doubler from my dreams
