It painted a grim picture.
Sometimes these documentaries can be a bit sensationalist so contributions from fisheries scientists and narrative by Attenborough added much credibility. If fish were cute and fluffy people would be queuing up to join conservation societies but because they less attractive and hidden from view fewer care.
