HORNSEA SAC OPEN MATCH REPORT

Hornsea SAC held its first Open Night match of the new season on Saturday 22/10/05. This Penn Sea League match was fished as a fixed venue in Hornsea and was of 4 hours duration. There was a lively sea and the Whiting had
RESULT SENIORS
1st Martin Standley Commercial SAC 5.32Kg
2nd Neville Charlesworth Commercial SAC 5.04Kg
3rd Mick Wright Hornsea SAC 4.00Kg
Martin also had the biggest fish of the match, a 2.20Kg Thornback, a late season fish that was returned alive.
Martin scooped the pools, the only thing he did not win was the raffle.
Best Junior was Hornsea SAC member Chris Fisher who had biggest fish, a 0.54Kg Whiting and biggest bag of 1.26Kg which won him both categories in the Junior event.

I don\'t fish Skipsea much. when I last saw it it was a very flat beach - course that changes quickly in this area depending on weather conditions.
Hornsea north beach was/is much steeper and I\'ve had some nice cod from here (not recently though).
Very reliable mark for flatties as well, which does help to break the monotony if the cod aren\'t showing.
Usual baits apply but most used are blow lug and runnydown, tipped with mackerel for the whiting. I\'ve had good catches on rag as well - underrated bait at times.
Mussel in colder weather, and razor fish after a good sea (all or nothing bait that, for me anyway. The fish either go mad on it or ignore it completely)
I\'ve always thought of it as a high water mark and it has the advantage that unless it\'s a very big tide you don\'t get pushed off the beach at high water, which can be a problem on a lot of the beaches in this area. Access good as well, which again can be a problem at a lot of marks, particularly in wet weather, (the cliffs are so muddy that getting down can be dangerous. never mind mucky.
There\'s a big open this weekend on the Yorkshire coast so it might be a good idea to wait till the results are in before deciding on a spot, unless you\'re thinking of fishing it that is.
The local tackle shop is run by a good angler, Keith Lamming, and as well as good bait he can supply up to the minute info.

You have to register, but that\'s easy enough and there\'s a lot of good lads on there who know the area well

Apparently you\'re not the only one who\'s had problems registering on aol. One suggestion is that aol treats the email with the activation code as junk mail and bins it. Could be in your trash can
Only other get around suggested was to set up an email a/c with hotmail, then ditch it as soon as you\'re registered.
