Hospital food

Made me laugh alright .

My month in hospital really opened my eyes ,my first morning in the General I was asked what I'd like for breakfast ,now bearing in mind I was lying completely flat with a ridgid neck brace on and not able to be moved obviously cereal would have been a bad idea so I asked for toast ,the answer was priceless .......

Toast ,we don't have a toaster sorry ,but you can have bread if you want .

I asked if they had a grill !!! the answer again was great .

They have a toaster on the next floor up ....but we don't have one ....would you like bread ?

Anyone who has been in hospital for a while will tell you that when you get the menu you need to interperet the hospiatl cook meaning of the dish then imagine it as a real hospital dish and make your choice accordingly .

Mind you the rubarb crumble was to die for ,I came out hooked on the stuff .

I can't fault my care while I was in there ,it was top notch . So all in all I was happy ...thinner yes ,:D:Dbut happy .

Pretty sure when my dad was in Rake Lane the food there was actually made over at the Freeman and fetched over, meaning that by the time they tried to keep it warm it was just an unidentifiable congealed lump.

last long stay I was in, I ordered takeaways and had them delivered!

was quizzed by both doctors and nurses about why I wasn't eating... I asked them, "well would you eat it?"

they all said, 'fair point'!!
