How is Amble fishing at the mo???

Hi Snatcher. I fish regular with Dave on the Upholder. Weather permitting I will be fishing with him 26th May. I will post a report that night for you with the latest details if we get out. If the boat goes South, you will usually fish over the Scars. Big reef shallowing up to twenty feet on the top. Plenty kelp on the top so watch your tackle. Best fishing on the slope down into the deeper water either side. No one usually fishes for them, but there are quite a few pollack to be caught here, as well as the cod, but the water needs to be clean. When it comes to rigs I am a bit of a nutcase. If weather and water conditions allow, I use 2oz leadheads, 6ft spinning rod and a fixed spool reel with 12lb line. I usually outfish everyone else on the boat. Usually get a better size of fish too. Last time out a couple of weeks ago I had a 7 pounder. The leadhead will take both cod and pollack if fished properly. On the Scars, an artificial eel or rubber worm on a flowing trace, on a slow retrieve, will take pollack. If drift is too heavy, or the water coloured, I fish a two-down rig with attracters such as beads or blades. For bait, suit yourself. I have never, so far, seen one vastly outfishing any other. My personal favourite is mussel tipped with lug or rag. I anyone is interested in how I fish leadheads, let me know. It\'s good fun on light tackle.

Scottyjim, thanks for that info. I would be interested in hearing more about how you fish your leadheads. I got some last year but never got the hang of them on the boat
