How much bait

Thats only the bait lol,

Depends where Im going 5 mackerel for 6 hours for spurs an rays
about 100 worms rag, 6 hours for pollack wrasse etc (always got leftovers)
Catch my mackerel and freeze them
Dig my worms locally
Seems like you have got your bait well sorted

It is a false economy to skimp on bait.

For a five hour cod session and one rod I'll usually have three score of lug (3 casts per hour, 1 hook rig with at least three worms per cast), for scratching with two rods I'll have a score of lug, 1/4 lb of rag plus one or two Mackerel, again thats for a five hour session using two hook rigs, size 1 hooks and much smaller baits.

Money being tight I rarely fish with two rods these days in winter, spring / summer with smaller hooks / smaller baits I use a lot more Mackerel than I used to to stretch the baits out.

1 and a half crab an hour (providing there good size ones). So 8 hour sesh = 12 crab which = £12, or nowt if you get yer own.

box of squid helps .....so for me a 4 hr seesion 2 up 2 down will see me use a score of rag or lug ...a box of squid //ususally with last me another short session the next day as well ...keep ur baits out the sun and it will last ....

If you skimp on bait you'll be lucky to catch owt but undersize bits of sh1t!

4 hours summer fishing 30 big Peelers.

Winter off the beaches I could easily use over 100 good Blow lug in 4 hours.

How many rods and hooks you using mate?:D

Yep, can't go skimping on the bait. My bucket for a 3 'n' a half hour club-match in the winter will have 50-80 blow-lug (depending on size), or 30/40 blacks & maybe 30 blows, about 25-30 frozen crab, 2 packs of mussel, then maybe a couple of optional extras like a bunch of razors or squid's nappers depending on venue. Lug, mussel & crab vital though - and a few times this past winter I still managed to run out of lug.

Summertime, a 4 hr session up the coast - 25-30 fresh crab, 15-20 frozen crab & a few ragworm in case there's any wrasse about.

Gary :)

I'll normally buy £5 of rag, 2 score of lug, a pack of macky, some prawn's, a box of squid and sometimes depending where we fish some razor.
I re-freeze some of the bait but the rest I just give away to the lads next to me when am leavn

It all depends where and how long ya going for mate.

I take 50 lug £5 worth of rag 2 packs of runny down crab if i have any, 1 pack of squid, mussel, razor and a bit of mackie.

And if i can get me hands on some blacks 100 of them all i will get 2 6 hour sessions out of all this bait.

mussle, squid, macky, razor and runnydown are stocked up in my freezer.

Thats just fishing for cod in the winter but if ya fishing the river for flattys ya just need a £6 worth of rag and some macky few hours of fun.

Every one will have there own take on this mate cos every one fishers different to others and some use a few types of bait like blacks and crab and thats it where me i use loads of different types of bait so will others.
