....is the PC used?"

Was the question from the guy at PC world, as he removed a rather exhausted graphics card that had been causing issues with the PC

"erm.....a little" :red: :red: :red:

Problem solved - and no cost incurred....HOORAY!!!

Nice one, was the pc still guaranteed

I've got grey lines accross the monitor here and I suspect it's the same problem but I cant complain cos the whole system is seven years old and served very well

PC was never from PC World and is nearly 4 years old so not under guarantee - when I first spoke to the lad he said it could cost £70 just to diagnose any problems:( ...when i took it in he spent about 10 minutes and it cost nowt...graphics card removed, monitor plugged back into integral monitor output...job's a good 'un!!:D

Need the PC - not just for my (excessive? ) internet usage but I go back to Uni' in two weeks so I needed it for my homework!!!

:o £70 :o I'm assuming they'd wanna sell you a video card for about £100 as well if you had of needed one. You can get a new (canny spec)base unit from Dell for £235.

I'm amazed you managed to find an employee of PC World's who knew what a video card was :D

so was I;) ...but this fella was spot on. I must admit the remedy was obvious once he'd done it....the graphics card, when in situ' by-passes the other VDU aspects of the PC...so if that's knacked then not even the integral graphics card will work until the duff component is removed...it's common sense really ;) DOH...:o:exclam:
