How old is a 1lb codling??

So, there's plenty of fish around the 1lb mark around and I was wondering why... Cold winter two years ago, so loads of eggs survive? Biologists out there - when were these 1lbers born??

I wouldnt say theyd be very old me like theyll put on loads of weight straight away id say from the spring run these that have been habouring in our rivers since spring.

As said above,about a year.
The best way to find out is by counting the rings on the Otolith.
A bone from inside the head.
Like the rings on a tree,each ring equals one year.

You can use the scales of some fish to do the same.
