Fished Sugar sands last night, had one 4 lb but lost a really big fish virtually in front of me, I been lucky to have caught one 17lb in the past, and this one was`nt far short of that. I got the"get" through the heavy kelp, and literally got hampted up around the last part of the thick stuff, The spider was wrapped around a stalk and the fish was lashing around, I was sure the rotten bottom would have come away, but the fish threw the hook and was lying on top of the kelp. After what felt like 10 mins, probably only 10 secs turned over and gone.
Absolutely gutted, sometimes I doubt pulley rigs but if I have got it out, I would have been saying best thing since sliced bread. Still not to worry I am old enough to know it`ll `not be the last chance, or the last time I`ll be disapointed.

That is my local beach, fished there a few times without much success. Were you fishing off the rocks or the beach? I havnt really worked out at what stage of the tide this fishes yet.

Aye Mate thought about it, believe me, but anyone who knows them edges will tell you one step and you could be under. I walked around the area on big springs and its deep.
