hydraulics

If the unit is servicable and the only problem is the shaft spins on the joint then a simple shaft collar would suffice in the short term. Minimil cost and would allow you to get on with other things.

Best idea would be to mount the pump on a new baseplate with some adjustment for belt tension. Fit a new pulley to the original pump shaft and drive it direct with the belts. The history of the Pansy and the effort you lads have put in so far deserves a good job being done and not another lash up. From the pump pics it looks like a lorry power steering pump and the clear plastic pipe looks to be a bit nipped. Hinge the mounting plate nearest the drive end with the adjuster moving the plate up / down. You could probably use one off an old lathe / drilling machine motor mounting plate and use the original checker plate mount welded on the new plate. this would make it easier to get to and service.

thats the target I reckon, off out shortly to see what can be scrounged, might have a pump of a tractor with a PTO plate that I can maybe fix a pulley to directly

curiously alfie, there's a shaft collar already on one end of the U/J but not the pump end??

The spare pulleys on the other end of the shaft look about right. You could machine a bush to fit if the bore is too big with a couple of locking screws or even a keyway. The holes in the pulley will (hopefully) allow access to the fixing bolts for the pump itself. If I was 20 years younger and 10 stone lighter I would give you a hand!

been advised the pump is just plain wrong!

its off a dust cart/sweeper apparently, and is not a full pressure continuous demand pump, so although it tested fine, it ain't up tot he job,

stripped the whole malarkey yesterday, pulleys included, main shaft diameter is 25mm, the pump shaft is 15, so had thought about trying to machine a bush to adapt a pulley to go straight on the pump, but looks like a new pump is in order....

been offered one so far, but is total over kill - Its off a JCB

Try this...it's prob a lot cheaper too ;)

Can be welded straight onto the pulley wheels :)

Whenever you need to turn simply adjust the Lemonometer to Port or Starboard :D
