BriH take note…Scottish people will tell you that it is very insulting to be referred to as a ‘Jock’. This derogatory term is more patronising and nastily offensive to a Scot than being called an A-hole. And such behaviour would have some offended people screaming RACIST. It’s an unwelcome term of reference in the same way as the N-word is to black people; the P-word is to Pakistani people, and the C-word is to Chinese people.
Blissful ignorance is dangerous, and hopefully you are now aware of what has upset the thread instigator.
On your little prick-pin regarding the horrible football result: as I said to a Dutch friend of mine today, “Yes, you did manage to whip a team of Scottish babies yesterday; this was sad but not unexpected. But remember, while you can beat us at playing football, growing tulips and perhaps at building windmills, we can always beat you at FIGHTING!!!â€
Another demeaned ‘Jock’ with less tact than I might offer big BriH this line…“You might be able to slaughter us at eating pies, and do us in the wobbly chins competition, however, we haggis-hurlers will invariably roll you in a rumble.\"
I of course, would never dream of saying such a thing which could be misconstrued. But I might go as far as sneezing out the words…Aaaa-Atkins Diet-chooo!
Remember digging is fine my friend, as long as you are prepared to wear that shovel. And a bit of ‘bite’ is always healthy in threads – just leave some cakes for the rest of us!
