I must be mad.

I'm going fishing tonight, she looked outside and then at me and I could see what was going through her mind. "Fishing, fishing in this weather he's got a girlfriend".

There was not a breath of wind in Chester, but the turbines on Warden Law told another story.I also realised I'd left my camera, even if I don't catch it's always worth taking.

Parked at the pier gates not a soul in site which is unusual. There was a canny sea running which looked very fishy.

The way the wind was blowing I thought I would get shelter at the round end wall, how wrong was I. Wherever I sat the cold icy wind found me.

I baited up with blacks and squid, blacks squid and macky, blacks by themselves, squid by it self not a bite it was coming back untouched.

I lost three sets of gear which meant tying on three shock leaders,my fingers were freezing. I nested my reel which couldn't be picked out, put on my spare had to tie another shock leader.I sat in the freezing cold on my seat for hours staring at a blue light just waiting for a bite that never came.

After four freezing hours I called it a night. On the way off I had a chat with the lads only one whitey had been caught.

The thing is I enjoyed the whole experience,no bites, the freezing wind the cold hands and staring into space at a blue light on the tip of my rod.

I must be mad, but I'll be back.

They just dont understand, i think when the weather closes in it feels like its me against mother nature. The wife on the other hand thinks im an idiot...she may well be right because im planning on wetting a line saturday or sunday night

Good on ye fer having ago.

Wor lass thinks I'm mad when I say I'm off fishing in this weather. But... I was mad when she married me.. so nee change there then.

I have blanked on a 12 hour session and like you say it's not all about the fish you catch its time to yourself peace and quiet and a wind down from normal life's chores
We may well be mad but we keep going back for more
