Identity please.

This is the best thread I have read on here for a long time. I hope the lad gets the record as I think it will last for a long time.
I was stumped at its identity when I seen the photos.
Well done.

When i spoke to Mr Harris today he told me he rang Alan Yates about it, and Alan couldn't believe the size of it as he said the normal weight for them are about 14oz, hence the qualifing weight for a record being 1lb. Still can't believe what Morgan said last night, that he only brought it home because he didn't know what kind of fish it was. He said he nearly gave it away to a bloke fishing next to him. Unbelievable. :o

What's the next step mate?

I've had to take a good few photos of it next to a tape measure. I've pulled out to extend its fins top and bottom for pictures. Then emailed them to the BRFC, then downloaded 4 forms they sent me through email to fill in and send off ASAP. Then it's a waiting game i presume. Apparently the committee get together to look at all the evidence then make a decision.

Lets hope they make the right decision and a quick one at that.

great stuff.

Also gets a good mention in today's chronicle...

Teen Morgan Parry may have bagged a Brit record - Angling - Sport - ChronicleLive

I must admit I was totally confussled as to what it was when I saw the picture - I was going to suggest a "Red Herring";):D Can't see why a few people call it "ugly" though - lumpsuckers, grannies & greenbones a lot uglier in my opinion!

Gary :)

Cheers lads :).

Everything sent off, just waiting now, i've heard it could take upto 3 months, which isn't too bad considering what others have had to wait. As soon as i hear owt i'll let you's know.

Regards Steve.

Thanks Gary, It tells the whole story as it happened. Fishing the pier first, then using the macky caught for bait at the Rathouse.......then a possible record :)
Walt Disney couldn't make it up :D
you and your young'un have had a canny bit sport lately hope it gets even better

well done young fella , i caught a lesser forkbeard or tadpole fish in west bay whitley bay back in 79 i thought that was rare , one you caught is a stranger to these waters, again well done and got luck jim:)

well done for the young lad i would definatly send a photo to sea angler mag , i did when 1 of my sons caught a 8 lb cod and the other caught a 3 1/2 lb thorne back .the one who caught the thornback, keith won a rod and real as junior angler of the month . definatly worth a try , nothing ventured noting gained . good luck on the record fish and future fishing.

In this months TSF . As catch of the month too.

Nice one.

Hi Gary,
I've looked through this months (sept) TSF and never came across the story, never mind seeing its a catch of the month. Unless the copy i got had a few pages missing.

For an update, I've received an email from the BRFC confirming that all the paperwork and photos i sent them have all been approved by the committee. Im now just waiting for the Identifier fella from the committee to approve its identity then they'll get straight in touch with us.
As soon as i find out i'll let you's know.

And cheers Trev, i hope it is correct and he gets a nice little 'Goody Bag'. :)

Hi mate, I sent it to the Young Rods comp in the Sea Angler, through Paul Fenech. I was too late to enter for this month, so it will be in either Octobers edition or Novembers. Bit of luck it might be better if it is Novembers edition, then hopefully it might be all sorted with the BRFC.
