Got one of these a month or two back and they keep you bone dry. Even fell in a quite deep pool the other night and me phone etc was perfectly dry in the pocket. Also very warm.

I got one as well but found it was a bugger getting down to the bottom of the front pocket... ended up ripping the material at the side. It is quite bulky as well, not the sort of waterproof to fold up and put in my bag. Can't deny it kept me warm on friday, it really chucked it down. It has let in water somewhere along the bottom edge and down the sleeves 'cos it's stlll drying out now.:(

so I am looking for something like the vass 175 or second hand gore-tex

That's a shame mate. What I would say is masking tape the area where the tear is leaving a 5mm boarder around the tear. Apply some aquasure and leave to cure for 10/12 hours. The coat will be repaired and stronger then it was in the first place.

befor a go and buy one any one got the blue imax smock or the red one do you rate them for been waterproof? cheers john

I've got this set and it's the best winter fishing clothes I've ever owned. I don't wear the salopettes much as I nearly always have chesties on when fishing, but they are handy for when fishing piers etc when you don't need chesties on.
I prefer the zip up coat rather than the smock because it's easier to get on and off. Don't worry about the zip being a potential leak point because it definitely isn't; there are several flaps that cover the zip. I've been out in torrential rain and never had a drop get through. It is so warm that I don't need to do the usual "layering" of clothes underneath like you do with other coats.
The first time I wore it I layered up as I was used to and I sweated my b******s off.
