Am big style out of kilter with the shore fishing at the moment...when I first got back into it a few years ago I would eat, sleep and breathe it...now after a few seasons and a few fish I'm finding it hard to get my mojo going for this year and given the pattern of the last few years I'd better hurry up because I only have about 12 weeks left!

Anyone else gone through the doldrums like this before?

Any tips on beating the blues?

had a couple sessions recent felt a bit wierd at first but you sharp get back into the hang of it when ya pull ya 1st coddy in :D

are you in a club tony,if so go to the next "meet" have a bit craic and maybe a fish or three:)

perhaps the "shore" has run its course:confused: and its time to think of something else:question: for a year or two:exclam:

get a youngin to teach used 2 b me daughter she not fussed now so been Taking me nephew when suits 2 the clean easy 2 fish marks :)
Teach them 2 fish and respect our sporting environment think u get just a big buzz when u see there faces when they catch as much as when u pull a big one in yourself :D
Sure u will have enough gear lying around 2 kit them out for odd easy session here and there !

Watch the X-Factor for 10 minutes, that should get you out the house. Get a regular fishing buddy and make every trip into a mini competition. When my mates beat me, i cant wait to get back out and redeem myself.

I feel the same, since i mived 10 miles inland i just dont feel the pull.
When i lived in Blyth was on the beach most days,now....................

Never fished since last winter, Fishing took a back seat since first baby boy arrived. Now all I want to do is sleep when I can haha. Going to sort gear out and get back into it when I can.

you cant force passion mate, forcing yourself to go fishing when your not feeling it will only make it worse. just leave the gear until the conditions are perfect and your chances are good.

thats easy.

only go out when the conditions are suitable for the cod.

if conditions are calm - take a few cans of lager along with you when only the tiddlers are feeding:D

Been there myself Tony in the last couple of years. When that big sea died off last week and there was a nice sea which was ideal for Whitley beach with low tide at 8pmish, I slightly felt the urge to give it a try. Knowing this time of year after the first seas there will be plenty weed about, but I thought, I need to push myself, so I did.
I went to Watts's slope, and to my right, lots of weed, but clear straight down. So now more exited as it looked perfect, couldn't wait to get cast in with the thought that there will be fish there. I ended up with three small codling with another couple of bites I missed and other fish coming in around me.
The moral of the story is, go out only when conditions are right, and your motivation will return as it's the anticipation waiting for that thumping pull when holding the rod, going down ready for the swim away bite and the strike, and the rod bends over with the weight of the fish kicking back and reeling like mad knowing you dare-sent stop or you might snag up.
Roll on the next northerly, I'm motivated my self now.
Well, do you think that helped Tony:D:D
